SKEPTICAL EYE ON RICHARD MOUW & NANCEY MURPHY

WHAT i thought i knew about rich mouw based on growing up in grand rapids, michigan, when he was a young adult teaching philosophy at calvin college and attending the same church as our family turned out to be an illusion... i realized many years later after going to calvin college & doing a year at calvin seminary, and then transferring to fuller seminary in 1998 where mouw, by this time, was the president ... and it's not until 2011 that I have finally slowly but surely uncovered his core beliefs (and nancey murphy is even more dramatically a departure from traditional Christian doctrine in terms of NOT believing in soul; ie traditional Christians believe in soul and the vital importance of soul, Nancey Murphy does NOT believe we have souls, and she says Mouw does NOT either). Mouw also believes in evolution, that God created us via the process of evolution, so that we evolved from a lower species. The only difference between him and the atheist in regards to evolution is that the atheist says it just happened by random chance whereas Mouw would say God engineered the process. Thus, Mouw does NOT believe in a young earth (ie 5000 years old). He also is against "abortion-on-demand" but it is not yet clear whether he is against ALL abortion of all shape & form. My only question is why he would be against abortion if he doesn't believe in soul ? This site is devoted to looking at Mouw's writings, and a bit of Nancey Murphy's too, with the hope of keeping good Christians from being led astray from the truth by those in positions of trust that may not, in fact, be leading us towards true salvation.

I'M a person of FAITH in CHRIST--the FATHER-SON-and-HOLY SPIRIT, who has dedicated his life to telling the GOOD NEWS, which INCLUDES the OLD TESTAMENT (not just for JEWS) because it SHEDS LIGHT on the NEW TESTAMENT and other aspects of GOD's CREATION & KINGDOM. I AUDIO-RECORDED the entire BIBLE and hope that I can ENLIGHTEN people & reach the LOST SHEEP who have not yet found the SHEPHERD.
